Our Concept

Eddy's concept is simple: we commission the local artist community to submit unique & exclusive designs in any medium or genre. The result is a custom and authentic limited edition print - a wearable ArtShirt, as unique as the artist who designed it.

Created By Local Artists - For YOU

We live in a small community with a huge population of artists of every discipline, medium and genre: painting, drawing, printing, etching, lithograph, giclee, screen printing, sculpture, music, mixed media.

Art is everywhere - even our phone booths and car parks are embellished by the work of Whidbey Island Artists. We decided to offer t-shirts as another way to get quality art work out to the masses. Whidbey Island's answer to a wonderful souvenir is YOUR Eddys ArtShirt.

High-Quality Printing Process & Organic Fabrics

How come the image doesn't feel rubbery like my old Aerosmith tee?

Eddy’s offers superior quality wearable art using the latest and best technology for fabric printing. The designs are NOT rendered by screen printing, but rather using a process known as 'digital to garment' printing. This print method is environmentally friendly and stands the test of time with washing and wearing.

Combined with professional graphics experience and techniques, Eddy’s consistently captures the artist’s original colors, complexities and fine details on each ArtShirt. The water-based fabric ink is heat set into the garment and maintains the soft and natural feel of our carefully chosen knits.

We print our designs on 100% organic cotton using this sustainable printing process. Using organic fabric is the responsible thing to do. A customer once said his Eddy’s ArtShirt felt like his favorite vintage many-times-washed t-shirt. Nice.

How Do I Care For My ArtShirt?

Washing your Eddy’s ArtShirt inside out in cold water and letting it air dry, will ensure a long and colorful life

Submitting A Design

We invite professional artists – and folk we suspect of being artistic! – to submit a design. Each image is vetted by our panel of judges who understand well how a piece will translate to fabric. They make their recommendations and we steam ahead. Please email us.

What happens to the original art works?

Original works are sold at Eddy’s every two years. The sale price is split, with 75% going to a local charity, and 25% going back to the artist.

Who are you?

Eddy is a very happy Jack Russell Terrier whose pet is Harriet. He is a goofy looking little chap whose idea of heaven is getting into the prickliest patch of bushes and sniffing out rabbits. His best friend is a cat, he likes to swim and can smile. He sleeps on his back with all four legs pointing straight up. Eddy is our muse, a sweet funny little dog, but there are of course a few humans involved too.

So many excellent people (and animals) came together to make Eddy’s a reality. Please see our list of artists.

Three friends, Harriet, Peggy and Ronni, came up with the brilliant idea of Eddy’s.

Collectively, they have lived on Whidbey Island for over 25 years. Backgrounds as diverse as teaching, theatre, real estate and tree farming, only served to add perspective and imagination when it came to starting up their new business. The pals realized what a beautiful island they lived on and how lucky they were to be surrounded by such incredible art.

Here are some of the other humans involved with Eddys:

Tim Leonard made our sign and lots of metal work on the island.
Joni Takanikos, singer, song-writer, in-house poet, keeper of the books - what can we say?
Ann Welch, designed our cool website. She rocks.
Sapphire Embroidery & Screenprinting prints our shirts. They're amazing.
Matt McDowell our SEO guru!
